On Feb 4th, for those of you that don’t know, a policy at the Harvard gym went into effect that banned men from one of its gyms for a few hours a week in a move to accommodate Muslim women who, for religious and cultural reasons, cannot exercise comfortably in their presence. What!!??
I think this is definitely something that needs special attention. I am sure most of us are aware of these small inconveniences occurring, not only at Harvard, but around the US. In all of history there have been major obstacles hurdled by schools, churches and government agencies alike to change and re-focus structure to accommodate all types of human adversity, but I think we have to draw the line somewhere in the sands of time or all would be lost in some enormous sandstorm.
This country is founded by different cultures and religions that make up a beautiful place, but within this country we also have rules that are followed that makes it possible for us to live in harmony. For example, in Santeria, the afro-cuban religion full of gods and goddesses, it is part of their belief that a sacrifice of a goat (a fu*king goat) is a symbol of devotion to the Orisha. Now, tell me where can I find an open space available to me where I can practice this without the threat of prison? It is stated by law that slaughter of any animal outside of designated ‘slaughter’ areas is considered a “sacrifice” or “unnecessary kill”. Maybe on the UM campus we should ordain part of the cafeteria during the late lunch hours for people of Santeria faith to have their moment to express freedom of religion? And I know there are some of you saying “Killing a goat and having a few hours in the gym are two totally separate issues”. My point is- where does it end? Should we then have no meat served on Friday for Lent? Or maybe because I am Rastafarian it should be ok for me to have a special smoking area for cannabis? Should the flags of every nationality be raised in the center courtyard of the university? Should we bring back mandatory prayer for elementary and primary education? Can I take peyote to find my ‘inner animal’ and run freely around campus?
Do you know they don’t say the pledge of allegiance in school? How about having to say “I swear to tell the truth and nothing but the truth so help me GOD?” Even big corporations like McDonald’s do not have veggie burgers available for those few million that might really want them. You know why? It’s not what they do! You go to school to learn, not to be imposed upon. I found TEN Curves (women only) Fitness centers within miles of the Harvard Campus. TEN. Jog your way over there for a workout. It is moves like this that actually encourage sexist discrimination. We have tried so hard to keep people included by making special arrangements that pull us apart.
I believe in the freedom of religion . . . just not on what I would call universal time! “Under our established First Amendment jurisprudence, we have recognized that the freedom to act, unlike the freedom to believe cannot be absolute”(from Lectric Law library stacks). It keeps us separate no matter how much we think it brings us together.

With your host and femme fatale “Cocoa” -
It seems that in my history with straight men there is a lack of intelligence and compassion in the areas of loving their mates. I decided years ago after a small vacation of 2 years in Ibiza that I should put the drugs down, get off the table and put my knowledge out there in the world for all to use and take careful advantage. There are many languages for love and when it comes down to it, I believe lesbians are the true leaders in understanding both the feminine and masculine sides of love. Now, I have been intimate with men and women and feel a great connection with those individuals that show compassion and understanding more than what package they happen to ‘come with’!
So, I have created this opportunity to keep an open forum for young men everywhere on how to show and share love.
Text or Call Ms. Cocoa toll-free at 866-LEZ-LOVE or 866-530-5683

This Vitruvian Mind “Word of the week” has been reprinted without permission from United Slang Lover’s Dictionary (USLD).
(ghan-ja-dar): the act of using a seventh, somewhat super-human olfactory sense to identify the range, position, direction, or use of both moving and fixed objects such as cannibis, crazy brownies, ganja teas, fudge cakes, and pipes. An inner transmitter emits olfactory waves, which are reflected by the target and detected by the receiver, typically in the same location as the transmitter. Although the signal returned is usually very weak, some signals can easily be amplified. This enables your ganjadar sense to detect objects at ranges where other emissions, such as sound or visible light, would be too weak to detect. Ganjadar is used in many contexts, including family functions, happy hour with co-workers, and sometimes your own backyard. It was originally called SBB (Smoking Bowl of Bitches), in Jamaica ,circa 1975. The term ganjadar was coined in 2006 in Maui,Hi by traveling hippies after SBB was liscensed by an all-girl band off the east coast of North America. It was recently added to the USLD (United Slang Lovers Dictionary) as “Best New Word by a Hippie 2007”. Those that have mastered the art of ganjadar have much to be reckoned with. These few individuals hold in their senses an overload of unparalled talent for scouting out the best substance at drum circles, desertland functions and parties worldwide!
